XMLMill in JSP

Using XMLMill in a .jsp page is straightforward. Let the .jsp page call a servlet which:

  1. Generates the PDF
  2. Sends the output via the outputstream back to the browser.
  • You cannot directly use a JAXPTransformer instance in the .jsp page as the outputstream from a jsp page is a JspWriter instance which cannot be used to send a pdf to, as the JspWriter writes a character stream and not bytes).
  • If you do so you'll get from the servlet container following error: Servlet.service() for servlet jsp threw exception: java.lang.IllegalStateException: getOutputStream() has already been called for this response.
